Resumo: Trichoderma viride (Tal-1 and T15P) and T. koningii (TW6 and CNP311A) isolates enhanced the seed germination and the vigour of eggplant plants. The trials were carried out in greenhause conditions using plastic pots containing natural soil and esterilized soil and as host the hybrid F100 and the cultivar RVIII. By the results here obtained, it was verified that, in natural soil the Trichoderma spp. isolates were affective in enhancing the seed germination, particularly the isolate Tal-1 with 98% of emergence of seedlings in relation to the control without Trichoderma spp. with 11% of emergence. Otherwise, the seedlings emergence was disfavoured in esterilized soil, possiby due to biomass of the fung formed on the soil surface. In general, the Trichoderma viride and T. koningii isolates favoured significantly the plant growth in natural soil. The mean values obtained for dry weight and height were 2,3 g and 36 cm and in relation to control that presented values of 1, 13 g and 28 cm, respectively. In sterilized soil, only the isolate TW6 of T. koningii presented higher values for dry weight (2, 14 g) and height of plants (33 cm), while the control presented 1, 13 g and 28 cm, respectively. Most isolates survived in natural soil for a period of 210 days when the last isolation was carried out. The major performance of seedlings in natural soil is likely due to the beneficial interations between antagonistics and microflora of the soil.
