Resumo: In this article, we will analyze legal journalism through a study case of the academic legal periodicals in the Brazilian First Republic (1889-1930). With a selected sample of journals, we’ll drawn some theoretic-methodological considerations about the work with periodicals, be it as historical source or as an object. On theoretical side, the article reflects on the action of journalism in the transnational policy of knowledge, appropriating, reinterpreting and disseminating ideas and concepts that circulated in the hegemonic intellectual field. Regarding methods, this work considers about how to deal with this type of empirical analytical material, and its advantages and differences for a sociology or history of law. Both elements will be grouped around two fronts of observation: the role of enforcing a collective production of knowledge, and the role of intellectual reproduction and factor of ideological convergence. Finally, the article aims to highlight the importance of these sources in empirical research on law, but also of the usefulness of thinking them as a revealing object of the national legal culture.

Selecionamos um conjunto de revistas, explicitadas no texto, e a partir destas tentaremos tecer algumas considerações teórico metodológicas sobre o trabalho com periódicos, seja como fonte, seja como objeto. Do ponto de vista teórico, o artigo reflete sobre a ação do periodismo na política transnacional do conhecimento, se apropriando, reinterpretando e divulgando ideias e conceitos que circulam no campo intelectual hegemônico. Sobre métodos, meditamos como lidar e tratar esse tipo material analítico empírico e suas vantagens e diferenças para uma sociologia ou história do direito. Essas considerações serão agrupadas em torno de duas frentes de observação: a do papel do periodismo jurídico de produção coletiva do conhecimento, e do papel de reprodução intelectual e de fator de convergência ideológica.
