Resumo: The punishment for illicit acts committed by intoxicated people was always a debated item by societies throughout history. Bibliographical studies, among others elements, intend to provide knowledge about the matter and the punishability of alcohol consumption by mankind since Christian age. Although in constant transformation and society evolution, this situation never ceased, quite the opposite, with the increase of financial world crisis. It is noticeable that the rise of alcohol consumption (and other products of similar effects) unleashes several factors linked to human degradation, specially concerning rage, as alcohol is involved in many domestic violence cases, traffic collisions, among other forms of criminal offenses.

Elementos bibliográficos, entre outros, ensejam o conhecimento acerca do estudo e da punibilidade do consumo do álcool pelo homem antes da era cristã. Apesar da constante transformação e evolução da sociedade, esta problemática não deixou de existir com o aumento de uma crise financeira mundial, muito pelo contrá- rio.
