Resumo: Global informal economy encompasses a significant portion of the population across countries of varying economic sizes, including Ecuador. In a recent analysis, we delved into how inequality in government expenditure, inflation, and per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) influenced persistent informality in Ecuador. Employing a structural equations modeling (SEM) approach known as the 'Multiple Indicators, Multiple Causes' (MIMIC) method, we assessed informality in the Ecuadorian economy quarterly from 2001 to 2020. The findings revealed that approximately 32% of the national production is attributed to the informal sector. Without effective regulation and policies, this phenomenon may continue to grow, impeding the reduction of inequality in the country.

Centro Universitário ENIAC2024-04-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://ojs.eniac.com.br/index.php/EniacPesquisa/article/view/97710.22567/rep.v13i1.977Revista Eniac Pesquisa; Vol. 13 No. 1 (2024); 75-94REVISTA ENIAC PESQUISA; Vol. 13 Núm. 1 (2024); 75-94REVISTA ENIAC PESQUISA; v. 13 n. 1 (2024); 75-942316-234110.22567/rep.v13i1reponame:Revista ENIAC pesquisainstname:Centro Universitário Eniacinstacron:ENIACporhttps://ojs.eniac.com.br/index.php/EniacPesquisa/article/view/977/943Copyright (c) 2024 REVISTA ENIAC PESQUISAhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessMejía Chávez, Marcelo2024-07-09T18:48:03Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/977Revistahttps://ojs.eniac.com.br/index.php/EniacPesquisaPRIhttp://ojs.eniac.com.br/index.php/EniacPesquisa/oai||revistaeniacpesquisa@fernandoasantos.com.br2316-23412316-2341opendoar:2024-07-09T18:48:03Revista ENIAC pesquisa - Centro Universitário Eniacfalse
