Resumo: | Citheronia brissotii brissotii (Boisduval) (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) caterpillar feeds of the leaves ofparaguay tea (Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil. - Aqüifoliaceae). To know biological and morphological aspects of this specie a raising methodology was developed at Epagri/Cepaf Fitossanity Laboratory in Chapecó, Santa Catarina State, Brazil. The five larval instars of this specie presented an average growth rate of 1,5398 and its life cycle wascompleted in periods of 92 to 236 days. The methodology allowed to describe the morphology of the immatures and adults of this specie. |

A lagarta de Citheronia brissotii brissotii (Boisduval) (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) alimenta-se de folhas de erva-mate (Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil. - Aqüifoliaceae). Para conhecer aspectos da biologia e morfologia destaespécie foi desenvolvida uma metodologia de criação no Laboratório de Fitossanidade da Epagri/Cepaf, em Chapecó, SC. Os cinco ínstares larvais deste inseto apresentaram razão média de crescimento de 1,5398 e o seu ciclo biológico completou-se em períodos de 92 a 236 dias. A metodologia utilizada possibilitou descrever a morfologiados imaturos e dos adultos desta espécie.
