Gypsum and lime in no-till and reduced tillage systems

Resumo: | Abstract: Limestone and gypsum application provides changes in soil chemical properties and can improve crop yield. This study was carried to investigate changes on soil chemical attributes and the grain yields of wheat and soybean due to application of limestone and gypsum under a no-till and reduced tillage. A field experiment was established in 2013/2014 (soybean) and 2014/2015 (wheat), in Erebango/RS. The experimental design was split plot, with three replications. In the main plots were applied tillage treatments: no tillage and soil disturbance through subsoiling. In the subplots were applied the treatments without application of limestone and gypsum (control); 2.5 Mg ha-1 of limestone; 2.5 Mg ha-1 of gypsum and 2.5 Mg ha-1 of limestone + 2.5 Mg ha-1 of gypsum. The application of lime combined or not with the use of gypsum increased pH, P and K concentrations in topsoil and demonstrated to be the better option to achieve the highest soybean and wheat yields in both tillage systems. The no-tillage system promoted higher soybean grain yields compared to reduced tillage system. Wheat grain yield was not affected by the soil tillage systems. |

Este estudo foi realizado para avaliar as alterações nos atributos químicos do solo e na produção das culturas de soja e de trigo devido à aplicação do calcário e do gesso agrícola em solo manejado com plantio direto contínuo e com revolvimento. O experimento foi estabelecido no campo nas safras de 2013/14 (soja) e 2014/15 (trigo) em Erebango, RS. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi parcelas subdivididas, com três repetições. Nas parcelas principais foram aplicados os tratamentos de preparo do solo: plantio direto contínuo e com revolvimento através de subsolagem. Nas subparcelas foram aplicados os tratamentos sem aplicação de calcário e gesso agrícola (testemunha); 2,5t.ha-1 de calcário; 2,5t. ha-1 de gesso agrícola e 2,5t.ha-1 de calcário + 2,5t.ha-1 de gesso agrícola. A aplicação de calcário, associado ou não com o gesso agrícola, aumentou o pH e a disponibilidade de P e K na camada superficial do solo, mostrando-se a melhor opção para atingir as mais altas produtividades de grãos de soja e trigo nos dois sistemas de preparo do solo. O uso continuado do plantio direto resultou em maior produtividade de grãos de soja em relação à área em que o solo foi revolvido. A produtividade de grãos de trigo não foi afetada pelo tipo de preparo do solo.
