Net spot (Leandria momordicae) intensity in cucumber plants grown under greenhouse and field conditions

Resumo: | Net spot severity in cucumber plants has increased in the Santa Catarina State coastal areas dueto the expansion of the growing season, the use of seedless cultivars and low efficiency of fungicides used to control the pathogen (Leandria momordicae). Trained seedless cucumber plants grown under greenhouse and fieldconditions were evaluated to determine the incidence and severity of net spot associated to temperature, relative air humidity and amount of rainy days. The study was carried out during the Fall of 2000 and 2001 and in the FallWinter of 2002. A significant correlation was verified between disease severity and number of rainy days, associated to temperatures ranging from 15 to 21,5oC. Net spot can be successfully controlled by the “umbrella effect” offered by the greenhouse environment. |

A severidade da mancha-reticulada em pepineiros agravou-se, no litoral catarinense, pela ampliação da estação de cultivo, com o uso de cultivares sem sementes e pela baixa eficiência dos fungicidas empregados nocontrole do patógeno causador da mancha-reticulada (Leandria momordiae). As epidemias são mais severas nos períodos de chuvas e estão associadas às temperaturas típicas do outono-inverno da região. O objetivo destetrabalho foi determinar a intensidade da mancha-reticulada associada à temperatura, à umidade relativa e ao número de dias com chuvas em pepineiros sem sementes tutorados, plantados a céu aberto e em estufa, no outonode 2000 e de 2001 e no outono-inverno de 2002. Houve correlação positiva entre a severidade da doença e o aumento do número de dias de chuvas, associados com a faixa de temperatura entre 15 e 21,5 oC.
