Resumo: Two experiments were carried out at Epagri/Experiment Station of Canoinhas in 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons, in the North Plateau of Santa Catarina State, Brazil, with the aim to evaluate the performance of pop corn genotypes. There were variations in cycle, plant height, stalk breakage, grain yield and popping expansion among the 15 genotypes of the first experiment and among the ten genotypes of the second. Thehybrids IAC 112 and IAC 125 had high grain yield potential and good popping expansion.

Com o objetivo de avaliar o desempenho de genótipos de milho-pipoca no Planalto Norte de Santa Catarina, foram realizados experimentos na Epagri/Estação Experimental de Canoinhas, nas safras 2003/04 e2004/05. Foram avaliados 15 genótipos no primeiro experimento e dez no segundo experimento. Observou-se variação entre os genótipos quanto às características de ciclo, porte, quebra de colmos, produtividade e capacidade de expansão. Os híbridos IAC 112 e IAC 125 apresentaram elevado potencial de produção de grãos e boa capacidade de expansão dos grãos.
