Pregnancy is a unique moment for the woman and her family, it is a process of great changes and adaptations, in addition to the physical changes, there are also social and psychological ones, increasing the pregnant woman's need to receive health professionals. In this context, primary health care as a gateway to the Unified Health System (SUS) has a fundamental role in the reception of this woman, creating a bond and accompanying her at the beginning, during and after the gestational period. Based on this, the objective of this study was to report the experience of a physical therapist resident of the family health program in the development of a group of pregnant women, welcoming their doubts and anxieties, guiding them about breastfeeding, pain management, among other issues involving the pregnant woman's health. A group was developed with four pregnant women referred from the family health strategy teams, who were welcomed by the physiotherapist responsible for the project, strengthening and mobilization exercises, health education and guidance for pregnant women were given. It was concluded that the presence of a professional physical therapist in primary care and in the reception of pregnant women is extremely important not only for pain management and guidelines regarding breastfeeding, but for raising awareness of women as protagonists in pregnancy, counting on the support network. family member and health professionals who accompany her at this stage.
