Evaluation of the use of personal protection equipment by the nursig team

Resumo: Introduction: The nursing team represents the largest workforce within healthcare facilities and is continually exposed to various risks as it is directly linked to invasive procedures and constantly in contact with bodily fluids. They accompany patients 24 hours a day, regardless of the inpatient unit. Objective: An accurate diagnosis about the knowledge of professionals about the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) allowing the visualization of the fragilities of care and enabling the nursing supervision of interventions to be carried out in an educational nature aiming at greater qualification of their team. Method: Exploratory and descriptive research with a quantitative approach to be carried out through the application of a questionnaire to the nursing staff of a surgical center of the Health Department of the Federal District. Results and discussion: The analyzed answers demonstrate a degree of difficulty and lack of knowledge about the use of PPE by the team. Conclusion: There is a lack of PPE, protocols on the use and educational activities that guide servers on the correct use of available equipment.

Acompanham os pacientes 24 horas por dia, independentemente da unidade de internação. Objetivo: Um diagnóstico acurado acerca do conhecimento dos profissionais sobre o uso dos EPIs (Equipamentos de Proteção Individuais) permitindo a visualização das fragilidades da assistência e possibilitando a supervisão de enfermagem das intervenções a serem realizadas em caráter educacional visando maior qualificação de sua equipe. Método: Pesquisa de caráter exploratória e descritiva com abordagem quantitativa a ser realizada através da aplicação de questionário para a equipe de enfermagem de um centro cirúrgico da Secretaria de Saúde do Distrito Federal. Resultados e discussão: As respostas analisadas demonstram um grau de dificuldade e desconhecimento sobre o uso dos EPIs pela equipe.
