Resumo: Introduction: Fractures located in the facial region are classified as severe and with a potential risk of death. Given the high prevalence and incidence of these fractures, it is necessary to have a clear understanding of the patterns of injuries that affect the face. Method: This is a retrospective cross-sectional epidemiological study carried out in a regional hospital in the Federal District, where data from patients who underwent maxillofacial surgery were evaluated. Results: The sample consisted of 47 patients, with men (76.55%) most affected by fractures, the most affected age group was adults (63.80%), the main etiological factor of the fracture was physical aggression ( 29.70%) with all victims being male, the second etiological factor was the uninformed cause (27.60%), the site most affected by the fracture was the mandible (55.31%) and the main treatment instituted was the open unilateral reduction of the mandible (27.65%) followed by the open bilateral reduction of the mandible (25.53%). Conclusion: Interpersonal violence is a global public health problem, there is a need to create public policies and increase public security measures to prevent and reduce situations of violence in order to reduce maxillofacial trauma.
