Os OGM’s, oriundos da tecnologia de manipulação genética, surgem no mercado consumidor com a promessa de “matar a fome do mundo”. Entretanto, a incerteza cientifica à respeito destes novéis alimentos nos remete à observância obrigatória dos Princípios de Direito Ambiental, quais sejam, o da Prevenção e da Precaução. Assim, rastrear a cadeia produtiva, desde a manipulação genética até a mesa do consumidor, é tarefa obrigatória do Estado e dos órgãos que permitiram a liberação deste produto no meio ambiente, sob pena de tornar-se incontrolável os efeitos que poderão trazer à saúde do consumidor e ao meio ambiente, caso haja contaminação, falta de cuidados e/ou ausência de ética naprodução destes alimentos. O objetivo da rastreabilidade é permitir ações rápidas e eficazes a partir do momento que se identifica que o dano foi gerado, na cadeia produtiva. Isso nos permite identificar e responsabilizar o causador do dano, além de termos condições de controlar ou eliminar o mau causado. O método de abordagem utilizado nesta pesquisa é o dedutivo, de procedimento científico, com utilização da técnica de pesquisa bibliográfica. AbstractThe GMOs, coming from the technology of genetic manipulation, arise in the consumer market with the promise of “kill the hunger of the world”. However, the scientific uncertainty regarding these staffed food refers us to compliance with mandatory Principles of Environmental Law, which are, the Prevention and the Precautionary Principle. Thus, trace the productive chain, since the genetic manipulation to the consumer’s table, is mandatory task of the State and of the bodies that have allowed the release of this product in the environment, under penalty of becoming uncontrollable effects that may bring the health of the consumer and the environment, if there is contamination, lack of care and/or absence of ethics in production of these foods. The purpose of traceability is to allow fast and effective actions from the moment that identifies that the damage was generated, in the productive chain. This allows us to identify and hold accountable the tortfeasor, besides terms conditions of control or eliminate the bad caused. The method of approach used in this study is the deductive, scientific procedure, with use of the technique of bibliographic research. Keywordstraceability; food safety; environmental protection
