Dental implant and the impact on the patient's quality of life

Resumo: The dental implant consists of a surgical material that replaces the natural tooth through the implantation of a titanium material that is affixed to the mandible in order to replace the root of the natural tooth. prosthesis, understanding that the existence of a complete dental arch is necessary to provide oral health and esthetics to the patient. The objective is to analyze the importance of dental implants for the quality of life of patients who suffer the loss of natural teeth. The materials used were 10 articles searched on Google Scholar, Lilacs, SciELO and PubMed search platforms, published between 2015 and 2021, available to the public and the application methods are an integrative literature review, application of the analytical method and qualitative research. The authors studied concluded that the lack of one or more teeth was common and the negative consequences too, such as speech impairment, difficulty chewing, aesthetic and self-esteem impairment and other situations that affect the quality of life physical, psychological and social, through this situation, dental health policies were developed and implemented, as well as resources for the maintenance and improvement of oral health were developed, among these resources the possibility of implants to replace lost teeth. Thus, it was concluded that the replacement of natural teeth by implants provides patients with recovery of oral function, as well as esthetics, so that the quality of life of this patient is also positively changed.

O objetivo é analisar a importância dos implantes dentários para qualidade de vida dos pacientes que sofrem a perda dos dentes naturais. Os materiais utilizados foram 10 artigos pesquisados nas plataformas de pesquisa Google Acadêmico, Lilacs, SciELO e PubMed, publicados entre os anos de 2015 a 2021, disponíveis ao público e os métodos aplicação são revisão integrativa da literatura, aplicação do método analítico e qualitativo de pesquisa. Os autores estudados concluíram que a falta de um ou mais dentes era comum e as consequências negativas também, como por exemplo, a deficiência da fala, dificuldade na mastigação, comprometimento estético e da autoestima e outras situações que afetam a qualidade da vida física, psicológica e social, mediante esta situação, políticas de saúde odontológica foram desenvolvidas e implementadas, bem como recursos para manutenção e melhoria da saúde bucal foram desenvolvidos, dentre estes recursos a possibilidade de implantes para substituição dos dentes perdidos. Assim, concluiu-se que a substituição dos dentes naturais por implantes proporciona aos pacientes a recuperação da função bucal, bem como, a estética de modo que a qualidade de vida deste paciente também é alterada positivamente.
