Use of cavity preparation in the treatment of caries lesions

The present work deals with the use of cavity preparation as a conservative method of intervention for the treatment of dental caries. To discuss the cavity preparation technique and the benefits of a biomechanical intervention for the treatment of caries and lesions. The methodology applied in this work is the integrative literature review, which was based on the following research platforms: LILACS, SciELO, Pubmed and Google Scholar. During the analysis of the selected articles, it was possible to understand that the cavity preparation is a technique used to determine the contour of the tooth, promoting resistance, avoiding the increase or incidence of fractures, creating a redemption system, removing the decayed dentin and properly cleaning the cavity, which is why it is considered a traditional technique. Thus, taking into account that a traditional approach contributes to the proper performance of the procedure, avoiding the margin of error when properly performed, it is concluded that a traditional approach is adequate for the most diverse cases in orthodontics.
