Resumo: The prostate is a target organ for several common diseases that can affect male fertility at different ages. Prostate diseases can affect young and old alike. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) indicate that prostate cancer is the second most prevalent in males, being the sixth most frequent cause of death among the world's male population. The prostate is a gland that is part of the male reproductive system, located in the lower part of the abdomen and produces part of the semen. This study aims to monitor Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) values in SUS users, assisted in a laboratory in the city of Maceió-Alagoas, performing a retrospective analysis and correlating serum alterations with age group. Data were obtained by consulting the records belonging to the electronic file of the laboratory unit, with the due authorization of those responsible for the laboratory in the period between October 2019 and August 2020, totaling 606 patients. The following parameters were obtained: age, quantification of free and total PSA of each patient, in addition to the relationship between them. With the detailed analysis of the data, it was possible to verify a relationship between age and prostatic alterations, it was concluded that the prostatic alterations are directly proportional to age, with prevalence of ages over 60 years.
