Resumo: Despite the high prevalence of bruxism among patients with headaches, it is currently believed that bruxism alone is not sufficient to increase the risk for most common headaches to occur. On the other hand, it seems apparent that when bruxing behavior occurs together with the presence of TMDs, internal TMJ derangements and other oral jaw habits, myofascial and probably other headache types, are more likely to occur. To review the current literature looking for material explaining mechanisms that clarify the presence of headache by muscle tension in individuals who present day or night bruxism and internal joint disorders. Literature review with articles obtained from the SCIELO, LILACS, VHL and PUBMED databases with information on the full range of Internal Joint Disorders and Headache by muscle tension. We selected 18 articles containing the material related to our objectives. We found 17 articles related to the theme, in English and Portuguese, with periods of publication between 2001 and 2021. There are several ways to diagnose and treat patients with bruxism and headache due to muscle tension, however there is even more need for study to better understand the relationship of internal disorders and headache.

There are several ways to diagnose and treat patients with bruxism and headache due to muscle tension, however there is even more need for study to better understand the relationship of internal disorders and headache. Sustenere Publishing2023-01-04info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://sustenere.inf.br/index.php/sciresalutis/article/view/727210.6008/CBPC2236-9600.2022.003.0034Scire Salutis; Vol. 12 No. 3 (2022): Scire Salutis - Mai, Jun, Jul 2022; 308-316Scire Salutis; Vol. 12 Núm. 3 (2022): Scire Salutis - Mai, Jun, Jul 2022; 308-316Scire Salutis; v. 12 n. 3 (2022): Scire Salutis - Mai, Jun, Jul 2022; 308-3162236-9600reponame:Scire Salutisinstname:Companhia Brasileira de Produção Científica (CBPC)instacron:ESSporenghttps://sustenere.inf.br/index.php/sciresalutis/article/view/7272/4291https://sustenere.inf.br/index.php/sciresalutis/article/view/7272/4290Copyright (c) 2023 Scire Salutishttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessLimeira, VitóriaMolina, Omar Franklin Tinoco 2023-08-03T13:33:12Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/7272Revistahttps://sustenere.co/index.php/sciresalutisONGhttps://sustenere.co/index.php/sciresalutis/oai||carlos@arvore.org.br2236-96002236-9600opendoar:2023-08-03T13:33:12Scire Salutis - Companhia Brasileira de Produção Científica (CBPC)false
