Resumo: The Catheter Totally Implantable (CTI) is a long-term catheter that provides the patient with reduction of pain, anxiety and discomfort due to multiple punctures and presents fewer and fewer complications, but is not immune to the associated complications. It is necessary to have the knowledge of the nursing team to provide appropriate care to patients with CTI, with a view to preventing complications. The work aims to identify the main nursing care in scientific productions for the prevention of complications associated with the use of a fully implantable venous catheter. This is a scope review, in which Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Pubmed and Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) databases were used. Among the predominant complications associated with the CTI were: infection, thrombosis, obstruction, poor positioning of the catheter, necrosis and rupture of the catheter and the prevalent nursing care were: strict aseptic handling, use of alcoholic chlorhexidine for asepsis of the site, trained and qualified professionals. We conclude that it is necessary for the nursing team to handle the catheter aseptically and provide scientific and technical training for the nursing team, preventing possible associated complications through nursing care.

Faz-se necessário o conhecimento da equipe de enfermagem para o cuidado apropriado ao paciente com CIT, com vistas à prevenção das complicações. O trabalho tem como objetivo identificar nas produções científicas os principais cuidados de enfermagem para a prevenção das complicações associadas ao uso do cateter venoso totalmente implantável. Trata-se de uma revisão de escopo, em que foram utilizadas as bases de dados Literatura Latino Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Pubmed e Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo). Dentre as complicações associadas ao CTI predominantes foram: infecção, trombose, obstrução, mau posicionamento do cateter, necrose e ruptura do cateter e os cuidados de enfermagem prevalentes foram: manuseio asséptico rigoroso, uso de clorexidina alcoólica para a assepsia do local, profissionais treinados e capacitados.
