To discuss the Glasgow Coma Scale in traumatic brain injury from a nursing perspective. This is an Integrative Literature Review that seeks to present the results in an organized way of a comprehensive 10 articles selected through the research platforms Scientifc Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Virtual Health Library (BVS), International Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health (PUBMED) and the Google Scholar platform. From the selected articles, it was possible to understand that traumatic brain injury requires an immediate intervention to identify the patient, prepare a nursing diagnosis, plan possible interventions seeking to preserve the patient's life. Thus, the nurse is essential to perform the first patient care by properly applying the procedures for identification in the Gasclow Coma Scale, so that the patient's life is preserved through effective intervention, in cases where it is possible.
