Resumo: The Brazilian population has thousands of people who use removable dental prostheses and with that the number of individuals with oral candidiasis becomes high. To describe the characteristics of the development of candidiasis by dental prosthesis as well as the methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention. This is a descriptive and exploratory research. The following databases were accessed: SCIELO, LILACS, PUBMED and MEDLINE. In this study, it was possible to verify that patients who manifest the disease often have chronic diseases such as diabetes or HIV/AIDS, which is a factor to be observed by the professional. Traditional treatment methodologies can be effective, but they can trigger adverse reactions and even resistance. The guidelines and motivation are the main key for the oral and systemic environment to be balanced, and the Dental Surgeon is the professional responsible for health promotion.

Descrever as características do desenvolvimento da candidíase por prótese dentária bem como os métodos de diagnóstico, tratamento e prevenção. Trata-se de uma pesquisa do tipo descritiva e exploratória. Foram acessadas as seguintes bases de dados: SCIELO, LILACS, PUBMED e MEDLINE. Neste estudo foi possível constatar que muitas vezes os pacientes que manifestam a doença possuem doenças crônicas como o diabetes ou HIV/AIDS, sendo um fator a ser observado pelo profissional. As metodologias de tratamento tradicionais podem ser efetivas, mas podem desencadear reações adversas e até resistência.
