Resumo: The present study aimed to determine the possible consequences to the health of the population in the surroundings of cemetery projects caused by contamination of soil and water by necroslurry (coliquation residue). The literature review methodology was established in order to explore the findings related to colliquation residue (necroslurry) and the possible causes of soil and water contamination by colliquation residue, in addition to supporting the proposal of mitigating measures for possible soil contamination and water by colliquation residue (corrective principle). Publications between 2010 and 2021 were considered whose works mention the environmental impacts caused by the cemetery activity, with emphasis on the risks of contamination. The revised studies allow for the development of some recommendations aimed at protecting the health of funeral home workers and residents living in the vicinity of cemeteries, as well as preserving the natural environment for future generations.
