Resumo: Despite providing several beneficial effects on the capacity and well-being of the elderly, the promotion of active aging is still a challenge for the health system and its professionals. Faced with this problem, the study seeks to know the publications on the promotion of active aging, through bibliometric description supported by investigations indexed in the Web of Science. To achieve the objective, the VOSViewer software was used for extraction. With the survey carried out on 07.28.2021, searching for: TITLE: ("ACTIVE AGING") AND TOPIC: (health); stipulated time: every year. Indexes: SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI, A&HCI, CPCI-S, CPCI-SSH, ESCI, resulting in 145 publications, of which we sought to analyze the co-occurrence networks of keywords, co-authorship by country , co-citation by reference and co-citation by author. The 10 most cited texts were also analyzed and the following areas were identified as an interdisciplinary scope: Gerontology, Occupational health in a public environment, Geriatric gerontology, Nursing, Health policing services, General internal medicine, Environmental sciences, Sport sciences, Psychology multidisciplinary, among others. The most common keywords are: active aging, health, physical activity, aging, elderly, life, adults, people, quality of life, age, care, exercise, participation, health promotion, elderly. The three countries with the highest number of publications are: Spain (29), United States (28) and Brazil (16). The most referenced works are by World Healt Organization (2002, 2007), Foster (2015), Boudiny (2013), Bowling (2008), Fernandez-Ballesteros (2013), Folstein (1975), Walker (2002), Depp (2006 ), Rowe (1997), Guralnik (1994). The World Health Organization is the one with the largest volume of references.

The World Health Organization is the one with the largest volume of references.
