Public Pastoral: the possibility of a practice from the Public Theology

Resumo: Public theology is being discussed in Brazil recently. Although it originated in the United States, as discourse and practice took place visibly in South Africa Public Theology in Brazil has some peculiarities and difficulties. Its peculiarity is due to liberation theology have the same proposals dialogic and social mediations, the difficulty to what is proposed Public theology is about the denominational and religious plurality which becomes a deterrent factor when it comes to speech homogeneous for the Brazilian society and Latin American in general. This paper comprises part of a debate that has as its background the Public Theology, but want to look for another perspective to dialogue with the culture and postmodernism. This bias would be the Pastoral in its public dimension.

Embora tenha se originado nos Estados Unidos, como discurso e práxis se deu de forma visível na África do Sul. No Brasil, a Teologia Pública tem algumas peculiaridades e dificuldades. A sua peculiaridade se dá devido à Teologia da Libertação ter as mesmas propostas dialogais e mediações sociais; a dificuldade, para o que se propõe a Teologia Pública, é quanto à confessionalidade e a pluralidade religiosa que se torna um fator de impedimento quando se trata de discurso homogêneo para a sociedade brasileira e latino-americana de um modo geral. Este texto compõe parte de uma reflexão que tem como pano de fundo a Teologia Pública, mas quer procurar outro viés para dialogar com a cultura e a pósmodernidade. Esse viés seria a Pastoral em sua dimensão pública.
