A costumeira postura de resistência à educação teológica formal foi fruto do anti-intelectualismo, marca do reavivamento, o que criou um dualismo entre a educação teológica formal e a experiência religiosa, a razão e o sentimento. Justifica-se a pesquisa deste tema pelo fato de que, mesmo tendo havido avanços no que diz respeito ao reconhecimento da importância da educação teológica no seio do pentecostalismo, todavia muitos líderes preferem a teologia devocional em detrimento de uma teologia acadêmica de reflexão aprofundada. Teve-se como resultado mais expressivo do conjunto de pesquisas documental e bibliográfica, a confirmação do conflito que houve entre a missão sueca, contrária à fundação de institutos bíblicos e a missão americana, que apoiava a fundação destes institutos. O presente trabalho, desenvolve-se ao longo de três capítulos, nos quais estarão sendo apresentados de forma que sua textualidade interna seja coesa e articulada, sendo que no primeiro capítulo aborda-se a apresentação de fatos históricos que discorrem acerca do desenvolvimento da Educação Teológica nas Assembleias de Deus no Brasil ao longo da história. Já no segundo capítulo, abre-se as discussões sobre o avanço da educação teológica, com o surgimento do primeiro instituto bíblico pentecostal em solo brasileiro. O terceiro capítulo trata das variáveis relacionadas à consolidação e ao fortalecimento da experiência religiosa nas Assembleias de Deus no Brasil a partir da implantação do projeto de “educação teológica formal”, sendo que estes conceitos são aprofundados e correlacionados nas considerações finais, bem como sugestões e contribuições para trabalhos futuros.Formal theological education was the target of many criticisms throughout the history of the Assemblies of God and through this research we will seek to analyze the conflictive relation between formal theological education and the religious experience represented in the context of the Assemblies of God in Brazil. The customary posture of resistance to formal theological education was the fruit of anti-intellectualism, a mark of revivalism, which created a dualism between formal theological education and the religious experience, reason and feeling. Research of this theme is justified by the fact that, even though there have been advances as to the recognition of the importance of theological education in the bosom of Pentecostalism, there are still many leaders who prefer the devotional theology in detriment of an academic theology with deeper reflection. As a more expressive result of the set of documental and bibliographic research was the confirmation of the conflict that occurred between the Swedish mission, against the foundation of Biblical institutes and the American mission which approved the foundation of these institutes. This paper, developed throughout three chapters, presented in a way that its internal textuality should be cohesive and articulated deals in the first chapter with the presentation of historical facts which discourse about the development of Theological Education in the Assemblies of God in Brazil throughout history. In the second chapter, the discussion is opened up to the advance of theological education with the emergence of the first Pentecostal biblical institute on Brazilian soil.
