A partir de pesquisa bibliográfica, trata das metáforas bíblicas sobre a liderança e, especificamente, sobre o pastor. Destaca conceitos-chave da Bíblia que permitem traçar o perfil do pastor enquanto líder, além de compreender a função ministerial. Reflete-se sobre o ministério pastoral a partir das figuras bíblicas no Antigo e Novo Testamentos. No Antigo Testamento aponta-se para a figura do pastor em cada um de seus blocos – Livros Históricos, Livros Proféticos e Livros Poéticos. A intenção é a de verificar como a figura do pastor do povo de Israel perpassa nas Escrituras. No Novo Testamento a atenção especial é dada ao próprio Cristo como o pastor por excelência, o pastor de ovelhas. O cuidado para com as pessoas e a conduta ética destacam-se entre as atribuições do pastor no ministério pastoral, cuidando dos fiéis e sendo a sua conduta exemplo para os mesmos. Assim, verifica-se que o cuidado pastoral e a conduta ética acabam por serem atribuições fundamentais para o exercício do ministério pastoral, bem como também para os líderes das igrejas.This paper presents an approach to pastoral ministry and the challenges for contemporaneity. Based on bibliographic research it deals with the biblical metaphors about leadership and, specifically, about the shepherd/pastor. It highlights key concepts of the Bible which permit the tracing of the profile of the shepherd/pastor as a leader besides understanding the ministerial role. There is reflection about the pastoral ministry based on the biblical figures in the Old and New Testaments. In the Old Testament the figure of the shepherd/pastor is pointed out in each one of its sections – Historical Books, Prophetic Books and Poetic Books. The intention is to verify how the figure of the shepherd/pastor of the people of Israel permeates the Scriptures. In the New Testament special attention is given to Christ himself as shepherd/pastor par excellence, the shepherd of sheep. Caring for and about people and ethical conduct stand out among the attributes of the pastor in the pastoral ministry, where caring for the faithful and the pastor’s conduct are an example for these.
