A hipótese é que as noções de ressurreição estão presentes por todo o Antigo Testamento, mas que ganham mais consistência por volta do séc. VIII a.C. e evoluem por seis séculos até chegar a concepções mais maduras. É possível que esta concepção mais madura de uma crença na ressurreição dos mortos no Antigo Testamento seja resultado de um percurso dentro da história de Israel, onde primeiramente acredita-se na ressurreição de Israel para depois passar à crença da ressurreição dos israelitas. Todavia, não é possível compreender do que se trata a ressurreição dos mortos sem compreender como o povo de Yahweh compreendia a morte que por sua vez não pode ser entendida sem a compreensão de vida. Por isso, esse trabalho traz uma abordagem da vida e da morte no Antigo Testamento, bem como reflexões da origem da morte e os tipos de morte, o destino dos mortos e o Sheol, os ritos funerários e o percurso histórico do imaginário da ressurreição no Antigo Testamento a partir do Israel pré-estatal passando pelo período da monarquia, dos Salmos, do exílio até o período pós-exílico, que por sua vez comtempla o período persa e o período grego além do período romano, mas deste último não temos registros no Antigo Testamento. Além dos aspectos históricos será abordado também os aspectos religiosos e a influência ou contribuição de outros povos para dentro do mundo religioso do povo de Israel no que diz respeito a vida, morte e ressurreição no Antigo Testamento.This paper deals with the Hebrew notions of resurrection present throughout the whole trajectory of the Old Testament. The hypothesis is that the notions of resurrection are present in all of the Old Testament but they only gain more consistency around the 8th century b.C. and evolve for six centuries until they become more mature concepts. It is possible that this more mature concept of a belief in the resurrection of the dead in the Old Testament could be the result of a trajectory within the history of Israel, where first there was the belief in the resurrection of Israel and then came the belief in the resurrection of the Israelites. However, it is not possible to understand what the resurrection of the dead is about without understanding how the people of Yahweh understood death and this, in its turn, cannot be understood without understanding life. That is why this work deals with life and death in the Old Testament, as well as brings reflections on the origin of death and the types of death, the destiny of the dead and Sheol, the funeral rites and the historical trajectory of the imagining of the resurrection in the Old Testament based on the pre-state Israel going through the monarchy period, the Psalms, the exile up to the post exilic period, which, in its turn, contemplates the Persian and Greek periods besides the Roman period, but of this last period we do not have records in the Old Testament.
