Após apresentar o status quaestionis, cobrindo o período desde o primeiro século até o surgimento da “Nova Perspectiva sobre Paulo” (primeiro capítulo), no segundo capítulo, se apresenta a carta ao gálatas utilizando a metodologia integrada de Dunn, de análise redacional, literária e da forma, de maneira a sublinhar o caráter pessoal e apologético da carta (que utiliza da retórica como um instrumento argumentativo fundamental), assim como a sua confecção num contexto de polêmica intrajudaica (tendo como antecedente direto o debate com Pedro em Antioquia). A partir desta análise e dos estudos de Hans Dieter Betz, impõe-se ao Apóstolo o dever de coerência argumentativa – dever que lastreia a análise feita no terceiro capítulo desta dissertação, que ao enfrentar a exegese de “obras da Lei” em Gálatas, concorda com Dunn na maioria dos pontos, embora apresente uma discordância fundamental sobre a interpretação do genitivo “de/em Cristo”, que no contexto de Gálatas, parece apontar para uma resposta mais acurada à tese de E. P. Sanders sobre a (des)continuidade entre a religião de Paulo e dos seus interlocutores. Ainda mais, a mesma discordância sobre a interpretação do genitivo “de/em Cristo” incide sobre a natureza da “Doutrina da Justificação Pela Fé”, e repercute sobre outra questão de fundo da teologia paulina, no tocante a sua consistência argumentativa, que, pelo menos em algum sentido parece ser questionável, especialmente à luz do uso da figura de Abraão como argumento comprobatório da tese paulina sobre a “Justificação pela Fé” independente das “obras da Lei”.This thesis proposes to interpret the “Works of the Law” in Galatians (2:16, 3:2, 5 and 10) based on James Dunn. After presenting the status quaestionis, covering the time period from the first century up to the emergence of the “New Perspective on Paul” (first chapter), in the second chapter the letter to the Galatians is presented using the integrated methodology of Dunn, of redactional, literary and form analysis so as to underline the personal and apologetic character of the letter ( which uses rhetoric as a fundamental argumentative instrument), as well as its confection in the context of intra-Jewish polemics (having as a direct antecedent, the debate with Peter in Antioch). Based on this analysis and on the studies of Hans Dieter Betz, the obligation of argumentative coherency is imposed upon the Apostle – this obligation which gives ballast to the analysis done in the third chapter of this thesis, which, upon confronting the exegeses of the “Works of the Law” in Galatians, agrees with Dunn on most points, although it presents a fundamental disagreement about the interpretation of the genitive “of/in Christ”, which in the context of Galatians, seems to point to a more accurate answer to the dissertation of the E. P. Sanders about the (dis)continuity between the religion of Paul and that of his interlocutors.
