Resumo: Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis Zopf, 1883 and is estimated to be responsible for about 1.9 million deaths worldwide. In Brazil, every year 70,000 people are infected and 4,500 die. Thus, the objective was to investigate the epidemiological profile of those affected by tuberculosis in Juazeiro do Norte-CE, between 2009 and 2019. This was an epidemiological, retrospective, analytical, documentary, ecological and quantitative study using secondary data from the “Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde” (DATASUS). The variables analyzed were year, sex, age group, ethnicity, education and area of residence. 1,093 cases of tuberculosis were found, with 2019 being the most prevalent. The epidemiological profile of those affected was predominantly men (67.9%), aged 20 to 59 years (69.6%), brown (75.5%), with low education (35.4%) and living in urban area (92.6%). These data can be used for the creation of public policies aimed at serving the population most susceptible to tuberculosis in the city.

En Brasil, cada año se infectan 70.000 personas y mueren 4.500. Así, el objetivo fue investigar el perfil epidemiológico de los afectados por tuberculosis en Juazeiro do Norte-CE, entre 2009 y 2019. Se trata de un estudio epidemiológico, retrospectivo, analítico, documental, ecológico e quantitativo, utilizando datos secundarios de la “Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde” (DATASUS). Las variables analizadas fueron año, sexo, grupo de edad, etnia, educación y área de residencia. Se encontraron 1.093 casos de tuberculosis, siendo 2019 el más prevalente. El perfil epidemiológico de los afectados fue predominantemente hombres (67,9%), de 20 a 59 años (69,6%), morenos (75,5%), con baja escolaridad (35,4%) y residentes en áreas urbanas (92,6%). Estos datos se pueden utilizar para la creación de políticas públicas orientadas a atender a la población más susceptible a la tuberculosis en la ciudad.A tuberculose é uma doença infectocontagiosa causada pela bactéria Mycobacterium tuberculosis e estima-se que seja responsável por cerca de 1,9 milhões de mortes no mundo. No Brasil, a cada ano 70 mil pessoas são infectadas e 4,5 mil veem a óbito. Dessa forma, objetivou-se investigar o perfil epidemiológico de acometidos por tuberculose no Juazeiro do Norte-CE, entre os anos de 2009 e 2019. Tratou-se de um estudo epidemiológico, retrospectivo, analítico, documental, ecológico e quantitativo, utilizando-se dados secundários do Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde (DATASUS). As variáveis analisadas foram ano, sexo, faixa etária, etnia, escolaridade e zona de residência. Foram encontrados 1.093 casos de tuberculose, sendo 2019 o mais prevalente. O perfil epidemiológico de acometidos foi predominante de homens (67,9%), com 20 a 59 anos de idade (69,6%), pardos (75,5%), de baixa escolaridade (35,4%) e residentes em zona urbana (92,6%).
