VOCATIONAL DYNAMICS OF THE SPIRITUAL EXERCISES

Resumo: In the context of the 500th anniversary of the experience that inspired the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola, the present article approaches the Exercises from their vocational dynamic. To do so, vocation is presented, in the first part, as an inclusive, integrating and dynamic concept that seeks to articulate identity, personal freedom and God’s call. In the second part, some dimensions of the Exercises and of the anthropology that underlies them are presented. The vocational dynamic is shown in the personal encounter of the retreatant with God as their own origin and destiny, in the recognition and valuing of human freedom, in the communitarian dimension of vocational discernment and in the personal relationship with Jesus as model and teacher for their own vocation. It thus offers a transversal perspective for contemplating the Spiritual Exercises that can be very relevant to contemporary culture. KEYWORDS: Vocation. Spiritual Exercises. Ignatius of Loyola. Karl Rahner.En el marco de los 500 años de la experiencia que dio base a los Ejercicios Espirituales de Ignacio de Loyola, este artículo se aproxima a los Ejercicios desde su dinámica vocacional. Para ello, se presenta en una primera parte la vocación como un concepto inclusivo, integrador y dinámico que busca articular identidad, libertad personal y llamado de Dios. En la segunda parte, se abordan algunas dimensiones de los Ejercicios y de la antropología que subyace a ellos. La dinámica vocacional se muestra en el encuentro personal del ejercitante con Dios como su principio y fin, en el reconocimiento y valoración de la libertad humana, en la dimensión comunitaria del discernimiento vocacional y en la relación personal con Jesús como modelo y maestro para la propia vocación. Se ofrece, así, una perspectiva transversal para contemplar los Ejercicios Espirituales que puede ser de mucha pertinencia para la cultura contemporánea. PALABRAS CLAVE: Vocación.
