Resumo: In 2020, the world was affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which had a major impact on the international logistics chain. International trade was greatly affected by the sanitary restrictions imposed, but when the demand increased, the situation got worst as there were many products to be shipped, but not enough containers. The problem was more intense in Asia, which resulted in cancellations, delays, increased freight rates and route changes. This article aims to analyze the reasons for the lack of containers in the international transport. The methodology used to carry out this work was the literature review with a phenomenological approach. It was found that there is an imbalance in the demand and supply of containers around the world, and this, added to stolen and/or lost containers, causes a great negative impact on the logistics chain.
