Resumo: The aim of this research is to offer scientific evidence about crime incidents during the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to do so, it was reviewed empirical studies on the topic. More than one hundred papers were found, which shows the massive volume of academic publications about the subject in a short period of time. Some criminologists are seeing the current pandemic as the largest criminological experiment in history. The introduction of social distancing policies to reduce the spread of the virus changed the peoples’ routine activity and offered ta unique opportunity to study crime. The inclusion criteria found 33 articles, reports and preprints, which covers 9 countries. Crime such as homicides, thefts, robbery, burglary and others were compared. The findings of the study will offer key lessons for law enforcement decision-makers and parameters for future research.
