Resumo: | Objective: Objective. Assess the physical and nutritional conditions of elderly patients with heart disease, the level of frailty of the Elder and characterize the sociodemographic profile. Method. Field research, descriptive, prospective, transversal and with a quantitative approach to the data. The research was carried out at the Cardiology Service of a teaching hospital, people over 60 years old with a diagnosis of heart disease participated in the research; patients seen at the cardiology outpatient clinic and who consented to participate. Patients without heart disease and under 60 years of age were excluded, there was no refusal to participate. This research project is part of a larger project, entitled "Profile of patients treated in a cardiology service of a teaching hospital", already approved by opinion nº 2.623.123 and contemplated with resources from the Research Support Fund (FAP) from Fundação Arnaldo Vieira de Carvalho (2018/2019 term). Data collection was carried out from July 1 to August 31, 2021, before the medical consultation in the outpatient waiting room, and after signing the informed consent form The collection took place through individual interviews. Three instruments were used: Sociodemographic and clinical data (Appendix 2), Multidimensional assessment of the elderly (Appendix 3), Nutritional Assessment Scale: will be carried out using the Mini Nutritional Assessment® - Nestlé Nutrition form (ANNEX 4). The information was entered in a Microsoft Excel system file. The sociodemographic and clinical variables are presented in a descriptive way and the quantitative ones, in absolute frequency (N) and relative (%). Results. Twenty-nine elderly people participated in the survey: 52% were men and 48% were women aged between 60 and 74 years (68%), declared white, retired, former smokers, 10% said they consume alcohol, 51% perform some type of activity physical and 41% consider their current state of health to be regular. After submitting this population scope to the MNA, it was found that 62.1% of respondents were at risk of malnutrition. Conclusion. Pre-frail elderly people at risk of malnutrition predominated. The results confirm the importance of nursing care to emphasize the assessment and nutritional monitoring of the elderly, especially in patients with cardiovascular diseases, since the nutritional condition affects and is affected by chronic diseases, corroborating the functional decline, directly interfering with the health condition. of this population. Palavras-chave: Avaliação nutricional, Idoso, Cardiopatias, Assistência ambulatorial ABSTRACT Introduction: Assessing nutritional risk or malnutrition in the elderly with cardiovascular disease is important to define strategies for effective interventions that treat non-pharmacologically. For example, a little sodium restriction can also improve high blood pressure. Reducing dietary sodium intake decreases systolic blood pressure by approximately 2 to 8 mmHg. Not all hypertensive individuals respond to decreased salt intake and some patients may be particularly sensitive to reduced sodium. Adopting a simple diet rich in fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products and low in total and saturated fat has been shown to reduce BP. However, due to practicality, cultural issues, speed of preparation and economic issues, many people opt for processed foods, which have a high content of sodium and fat. This can bring harm to a heart already in the process of pathophysiological transformations due to the aging process. Therefore, it is very important to assess the eating habits and nutritional status of the assisted elderly in order to provide effective care and guidance, engaging them to seek a better quality of life. Objective: To assess the physical and nutritional conditions of elderly patients with heart disease, their level of frailty, and to characterize their sociodemographic profile. Method: Field research, descriptive, prospective, transversal and with a quantitative approach to the data. The research was carried out at the Cardiology Service of a teaching hospital. Of these, 13.8% were healthy elderly, 55.2% were pre-frail and 31% frail according to the applied Multidimensional Assessment. After submitting this population scope to the MNA, it was found that 62.1% of respondents were at risk of malnutrition. Conclusion: Pre-frail elderly people at risk of malnutrition predominated. The results confirm the importance of nursing care to emphasize the assessment and nutritional monitoring of the elderly, especially in patients with cardiovascular diseases, since the nutritional condition affects and is affected by chronic diseases, reinforcing functional decline and directly interfering with the health condition of this population. Keywords: Nutrition assessment, Aged, Heart diseases, Ambulatory careFaculdade de Ciências Médicas da Santa Casa de São Paulo2023-08-08info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttp://arquivosmedicos.fcmsantacasasp.edu.br/index.php/AMSCSP/article/view/89310.26432/1809-3019.2023.68.006Arquivos Médicos dos Hospitais e da Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Santa Casa de São Paulo; V. 68 (2023): Jan/Dez; 1 of 61809-30190101-6067reponame:Arquivos Médicos dos Hospitais e da Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Santa Casa de São Paulo (Online)instname:Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Santa Casa de São Pauloinstacron:FCMSCSPporhttp://arquivosmedicos.fcmsantacasasp.edu.br/index.php/AMSCSP/article/view/893/1212Copyright (c) 2023 Ariadne Fabbri, Dra Rosimeire Angela, Dra Luciana Cardoso, Ronaldo Fernandes Rosahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessFabbri, Ariadne PolveriniSoares, Rosimeire Angela de QueirozCardoso, Luciana Gonzaga dos SantosRosa, Ronaldo Fernandes2023-08-14T17:06:47Zoai:ojs2.arquivosmedicos.fcmsantacasasp.edu.br:article/893Revistahttp://arquivosmedicos.fcmsantacasasp.edu.br/index.php/AMSCSPONGhttp://arquivosmedicos.fcmsantacasasp.edu.br/index.php/AMSCSP/oaiarquivosmedicos@fcmsantacasasp.edu.br||1809-30190101-6067opendoar:2023-08-14T17:06:47Arquivos Médicos dos Hospitais e da Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Santa Casa de São Paulo (Online) - Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Santa Casa de São Paulofalse |
