Research carried out in the Political Constitution of the Empire of Brazil of 1824 and subsidiary legislation of the nineteenth century. Its purpose is to define the concept of Imperial Family Endowment, an institute expressed in 10 articles in the Constitution of 1824. It has as a research problem to understand the meanings of the expression “Endowment of the Imperial Family” and to describe its importance and contents, demonstrating that the Constitution of 1824 guaranteed the ownership of material and immaterial goods and provided by the Institute of the Endowment a series of financial rights to the royal family, among them: remuneration to the King, wife, pensions to princes, princesses, private butlers to take care of the assets, , Education with individual private teacher, et. In contrast to what was sought in nineteenth-century Europe, contrary to the monarchical modus vivendi. The proposed Methodology was a historical and descriptive research with qualitative data treatments, having as primary sources the Constitution of 1824 and the Decree 151/1840. The method that supported the research was the indictment. The results showed that the budget allocation was an important institute defended by the monarchy and elite and among other elements, served as a support of power and politics
