Resumo: This work deals with the theory of knowledge. But not only that. This part of philosophy, technically called gnoseology (or gnosiology) - from the Greek gnosis, knowledge - has become, for various reasons that it is not now possible to examine, the main line of thought in the West. Gnoseology takes care, in short, to investigate this type of very peculiar relationship that the human being establishes with the world and which he calls knowledge.

Mas não só disto. Essa parte da filosofia, tecnicamente denominada gnoseologia(ou gnosiologia) - do grego gnose, conhecimento -, tornou-se, por diversos motivos que não cabe agora examinar, a principal linha de pensamento no Ocidente.
