Resumo: The public hearing of the STF, which took place on August 3 and 6, 2018, and broadcast live by the largest television networks in the country, unveiled a reality that, until then, remained, in a way, unknown, or intentionally ignored, by large public, due to the moral conflicts surrounding the theme: 1 in 5 women has already had an abortion and, of these, half needed health services. Data on clandestine abortion in the country and, in particular, the number of hospital admissions, currently fatal, of women in vulnerable situations were brought to light and point to an indisputable fact: the criminalization of abortion does not prevent these women from continuing abortion
