Reading and audiovisual as a stimulus for freedom

Resumo: This article reports the professional experience of the author in prison environments in the state of Espírito Santo (ES) and the importance of reading practice and the audiovisual as resocialization tools for prisoners. Also, the contribution of these tools to the social, cognitive development and idleness of inmates. The intention is to discuss the role of the library in the prison environment and what is the role of the librarian in this social context. However, observe the potential of social projects and the establishment of socioeducational and cultural policies for inmates confined in prisons. Also, pay attention to activities that expand the possibilities of education of inmates and promote the reintegration of graduates into social life. The purpose is not to cover up the crimes committed by the intern, but to transform the reality of this individual before society so that he does not come to practice actions that contribute to the return to incarceration. The intention is to educate and not deposit.

The intention is to educate and not deposit.Este artigo relata a vivência profissional da autora em ambientes prisionais no Estado do Espírito Santo (ES) e a importância da prática de leitura e o audiovisual como instrumentos de ressocialização para apenados. E também, a contribuição dessas ferramentas para o desenvolvimento social, cognitivo e a ociosidade dos internos. A intenção é discutir a função da biblioteca no ambiente prisional e qual o papel do profissional bibliotecário, neste contexto social. Contudo, observar possíveis potencialidades de projetos sociais e instauração de políticas socioeducacionais e culturais para internos confinados em presídios. Ainda, atentar para as atividades que expandem as possibilidades de educação dos internos e fomentem a reinserção dos egressos ao convívio social. A finalidade não é encobrir os delitos cometidos pelo interno, mas transformar a realidade desse indivíduo perante a sociedade para que o mesmo não venha praticar ações que contribua para o retorno ao encarceramento.
