Implementing the concept of Organizational Life Cycle in the definition and Determinations Phases of a Retailers Organization

Resumo: The present article approaches the relationship among models that analyze the phases of organizational life cycle and the organizational effectiveness, based on a retail organization – created in the beginning of the XX Century, more precisely, on November 29, 1913 and that was recognized by the paulistana population as being the one that most resembled the city. The analysis of the favorable periods of growth and the critical periods has made it possible to identify the characteristics of each one of the five identified phases in the study: initial growth, administrative, mass growth, expansion and lack of control.  It is concluded by the importance of underlying concepts that they interfere: in the research when of the phases elaboration; in the theory of organizational life cycle as instrument that can contribute in the strategic planning of  the organizations.Key-words: Organizational life cycle. Case study.El presente artículo se refiere a la relación entre modelos que analizan las fases del ciclo de vida organizacional y la efectividad organizacional,  basada en una organización minorista creada en el inicio del siglo XX, precisamente, el día 29 de noviembre de 1913 y que fue reconocida por la población “paulistana”, en el comienzo de la década de 1990, como la tienda que mejor se identificaba con São Paulo. El análisis de los períodos favorables de crecimiento y de los períodos críticos permitió identificar las características de cada una de las cinco fases identificadas en el estudio: crecimiento inicial, administrativa, crecimiento masificado, expansión y descontrol.  Se concluye por la importancia de los conceptos subyacentes que se incluyen: en la elaboración de las fases; en la teoría del ciclo de vida organizacional como instrumento capaz de contribuir a la planificación estratégica de las organizaciones.Palabras clave: Ciclo de vida organizacional. Estudio de caso.O presente artigo aborda a relação entre modelos que analisam as fases do ciclo de vida organizacional e a efetividade organizacional - baseada em uma organização varejista criada no início do século XX, mais precisamente, no dia 29 de novembro de 1913 e que foi reconhecida pela população paulistana, no início dos anos 90, como a loja que tinha a “cara” de São Paulo. A análise dos períodos favoráveis de crescimento e dos períodos críticos possibilitou identificar as características de cada uma das cinco fases identificadas no estudo: crescimento inicial, administrativa, crescimento massificado, expansão e descontrole. Conclui-se pela importância dos conceitos subjacentes que se inserem: na elaboração das fases; na teoria do ciclo de vida organizacional como instrumento que pode contribuir no planejamento estratégico das organizações.Palavras-chave: Ciclo de vida organizacional.
