Resumo: This study analyses the rural house of Baixo Minho, Portugal (1750-1810), observing the architectural elements and the internal divisions, examining the different features and uses of space as possible elements of differentiation between private and public. In order to do it, we use as main sources post-mortem inventories (600), last wills and photographs of homes in demolition.

A casa rural do Baixo Minho, em Portugal, no período 1750-1810, para além de se afirmar como um elemento do complexo agrícola, desempenhava um papel crucial na sociedade em questão graças aos sentimentos de pertença e de identidade que se transmitiam de geração em geração.
