Resumo: This article analyses the perspectives open by digital history for the renewal of the historiographic production departing from the experience of UFRRJ’s Documentary and Image Center (CEDIM). It highlights the contribution of making available digital holdings for the collective self-esteem of Baixada Fluminense dwellers, overcoming stigmas traditionally associated to the region, as in the case of the documents of the Nova Iguaçu Metropolitan Curia, of great relevance for the study of local social movements. Finally, it analyses CEDIM as a locus of cooperation between historians and computer scientist, that originated UFRRJ’s Masters in Digital Humanities.

Destaca la contribución de la disponibilización de acervos digitales para la autoestima colectiva de los moradores de la Baixada Fluminense, superando los estigmas tradicionalmente asociados a la región, como en el caso de los documentos de la Curia Metropolitana de Nova Iguaçu, de gran relevancia para los estudios sobre los movimientos sociales locales. Por fin, analiza el CEDIM como un locus de cooperación entre historiadores e científicos computacionales, que originó la Maestría en Humanidades Digitales de la UFRRJ.Este artigo analisa as perspectivas abertas pela história digital para a renovação da produção historiográfica a partir da experiência do Centro de Documentação e Imagem (Cedim) da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). Destaca a contribuição da disponibilização de acervos digitais para a autoestima coletiva dos moradores da Baixada Fluminense, superando os estigmas tradicionalmente associados à região, como no caso da documentação da Cúria Metropolitana de Nova Iguaçu, de grande relevância para o estudo dos movimentos sociais locais.
