Resumo: Intercultural encounters experienced by artists that travel abroad are not always happy. In fact, they can produce a deep feeling of anguish and isolation. This is the subject of this article on Antonin Artaud's self-exile in Mexico in the 30's. The author discusses why the French poet and playwriter, who went to Mexico moved by the hope of descovering and working on a new reality, turned to be the "desdichado" who strolled alone and drugged along the streets of the city.

Editora FGV1997-07-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.fgv.br/reh/article/view/2043Revista Estudos Históricos; Vol. 10 No. 19 (1997): Individual, biography, history; 99-110Revista Estudos Históricos; v. 10 n. 19 (1997): Indivíduo, biografia, história; 99-1102178-14940103-2186reponame:Estudos Históricos (Rio de Janeiro)instname:Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV)instacron:FGVporhttps://periodicos.fgv.br/reh/article/view/2043/1182Santiago, Silvianoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2017-06-14T21:02:33Zoai:ojs.periodicos.fgv.br:article/2043Revistahttps://periodicos.fgv.br/rehONGhttps://periodicos.fgv.br/reh/oai||biblioteca.digital@fgv.br||eh@fgv.br2178-14940103-2186opendoar:2024-03-06T13:01:32.801063Estudos Históricos (Rio de Janeiro) - Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV)true
