Resumo: This article intends to reflect over a kind of celebration that consists of evoking people by their death anniversary. Two cases are examined, both related to famous Brazilian writers: Euclides da Cunha and Clarice Lispector. The author tries, on one hand, to determine the place of kind of celebration in modern societies, its function and meaning as a memory place in a world marked by fragmentation. On the other hand, she wants to aprehend the conceptions of person that are ritually dramatized during the two events, taking as reference the distinction proposed by Trilling between sincerety and authenticity.

Editora FGV1994-12-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.fgv.br/reh/article/view/1984Revista Estudos Históricos; Vol. 7 No. 14 (1994): Commemorations; 205-230Revista Estudos Históricos; v. 7 n. 14 (1994): Comemorações; 205-2302178-14940103-2186reponame:Estudos Históricos (Rio de Janeiro)instname:Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV)instacron:FGVporhttps://periodicos.fgv.br/reh/article/view/1984/1123Abreu, Reginainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2017-06-14T21:03:42Zoai:ojs.periodicos.fgv.br:article/1984Revistahttps://periodicos.fgv.br/rehONGhttps://periodicos.fgv.br/reh/oai||biblioteca.digital@fgv.br||eh@fgv.br2178-14940103-2186opendoar:2024-03-06T13:01:29.428320Estudos Históricos (Rio de Janeiro) - Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV)true
