Resumo: The 500th anniversary of Brazil's discovery commemoration provoked symbolic conflicts regarding the image of the Brazilian "nation". This conflict took place between the official festivities on one side, and the protests organized by "minorities" on the other. This article analyses the media coverage of this events.
