Resumo: This article analyzes how the transsexual population in the city of São Paulo deals with the issue of access to employment, on the perspective of the civil society entities who represent this group. Through semi-structured interviews with representatives of these entities, the articles focuses on (i) their perception of the challenges faced by transsexuals in accessing work; (ii) their strategies for promoting the employability agenda for the transgender population; and (iii) their suggestions for the inclusion of these people in the job market. As results, five main challenges were identified: prejudice and transphobia; documentation; use of restroom, dressing room and uniforms; poor education; and body and verbal languages. Among the entities’ strategies, stand out the organization of demonstrations, events, lectures and advertisement; sharing information on job vacancies in social networks, as well as the training of both companies and transgender people. Finally, the article proposes means of access and permanence of the transgender population in the job market. Some of these proposals depend on State action, such as affirmative actions, and others require corporate responsibility. As a conclusion, it becomes evident that the State must protect these group of people, and companies must act with due diligence to ensure non-discrimination of transgender in the workplace.

Escola de Direito de São Paulo da Fundação Getulio Vargas2018-09-25info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.fgv.br/revdireitogv/article/view/77103Revista Direito GV; Vol. 14 No. 2 (2018): maio-ago (30); 302-333Revista Direito GV; Vol. 14 Núm. 2 (2018): maio-ago (30); 302-333Revista Direito GV; v. 14 n. 2 (2018): maio-ago (30); 302-3332317-6172reponame:Revista Direito GVinstname:Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV)instacron:FGVporhttps://periodicos.fgv.br/revdireitogv/article/view/77103/73909Copyright (c) 2018 Revista Direito GVinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAlmeida, Cecília Barreto deVasconcellos, Victor Augusto2019-08-07T13:44:14Zoai:ojs.periodicos.fgv.br:article/77103Revistahttps://direitosp.fgv.br/publicacoes/revista/revista-direito-gvPRIhttps://old.scielo.br/oai/scielo-oai.php||revistadireitogv@fgv.br|| catarina.barbieri@fgv.br2317-61721808-2432opendoar:2019-08-07T13:44:14Revista Direito GV - Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV)false
