Resumo: | Based on the synthesis of cultural traits that are common to the people and are evident in most Brazilian companies, this paper describes the main characteristics of the entrepreneurial culture in Companhia Vale do Rio Doce. The paper summarizes the company¿s accomplishments and the presumed remainder of its social balance. It identifies the corporate values and beliefs, as well as behavioral patterns and social phenomena. The data was verified by a few employees, selected according to their accessibility, thus making it possible to characterize some corporate rites. Finally, based on a typology of comparative pairs, the paper presents the conclusions obtained by systematically recording the company¿s most visible landmarks. |

O artigo apresenta um resumo histórico das realizações da empresa e do saldo presumido de um balanço social e identifica os valores e crenças corporativas assumidos, bem como os padrões de comportamento e fenômenos sociais observados. Os dados coletados foram ratificados ou não por alguns empregados, selecionados por critérios de acessibilidade, possibilitando a caracterização de alguns ritos corporativos.
