The role of technical-economic paradigms in organizational and business strategy studies

Resumo: The objective of this paper is to analyze the relationship between classical organizational studies and the different schools of thought on business strategy, connecting them to technological innovation and its technical-economic paradigms. It does not intend to search for cause-effect explanations, but just to compare and freely speculate about the chronologies and apparent correlation between those fields. The hypothesis is that technological innovations brought with technical-economic paradigms envelope a scale ofsocial impacts so comprehensive that those impacts go much beyond the industry itself and result in changes in the way organizations are managed and even studied.

Não se pretende com isto encontrar possíveis explicações de causa e efeito entre esses campos, mas sim comparar suas cronologias, explorando eventuais indícios de correlações. Dessa forma, especula-se, com alguma liberdade, sobre as confluências ou interfaces observadas entre as dinâmicas deevolução destes campos teóricos: estudos organizacionais, economia da inovação tecnológica e o pensamento estratégico-empresarial.
