Resumo: This is a teaching case based on the history of SunTech, a startup in the distributed generation segment, founded by three partners with long professional experience in the Brazilian electricity sector. Despite the successful milestones achieved by the company in recent years, the startup had been encountering difficulties in the process of attracting investors to enable its growth. If, on the one hand, the market opportunity perceived by the entrepreneurs was absolutely clear, on the other hand, the entrepreneurs found themselves facing an obstacle that was difficult to overcome. As a result, they gathered in the startup's office to map out and discuss their options.

A pesar de los hitos exitosos alcanzados por la empresa en los últimos años, el startup venía encontrando dificultades en el proceso de captación de inversores que permitieran su crecimiento. Si, por un lado, la oportunidad de mercado percibida por los emprendedores era absolutamente clara, por otro lado, los emprendedores se encontraban ante un obstáculo difícil de superar. Como resultado, se reunieron en la oficina del startup para trazar un mapa y discutir sus opciones.Trata-se de um caso de ensino baseado na história da SunTech, startup do segmento de geração distribuída, fundada por três sócios com longa experiência profissional no setor elétrico brasileiro. Apesar dos bem-sucedidos marcos alcançados pela empresa nos últimos anos, a startup vinha encontrando dificuldades no processo de captação de investidores para viabilizar seu crescimento. Se de um lado era absolutamente clara a oportunidade de mercado percebida pelos empreendedores, de outro lado os empreendedores se viam diante de um obstáculo de difícil transposição.
