The consumption of technology as a structural element of identity: a theoretical and methodological discussion based on French Semiotics

Resumo: Adopting the Consumer Culture Theory - CCT as a basis for the discussions, this theoretical essay aims to present discursive French Semiotics as a theoretical-methodological alternative for the study of the role of technology consumption in the process of consumer identity construction. The proposal is based mainly on the Technological Ideologies of Kozinets (2008) as possible semantic structuring, and on the use of the generative trajectory of meaning (GREIMAS and COURTÉS, 2013) to analyze the discourses of the technology-consuming subjects.

La propuesta se basa, sobre todo, en las ideologías tecnológicas de Kozinets (2008) como posibles estructurantes semánticos, y en la utilización del recorrido generativo de la significación (GREIMAS y COURTÉS, 2013) para analizar los discursos de los sujetos consumidores de tecnología.Adotando a perspectiva da teoria da cultura do consumo (consumer culture theory – CCT) como base para a discussão, este ensaio teórico tem por objetivo apresentar a semiótica discursiva de linha francesa como uma alternativa teórico-metodológica para o estudo do papel do consumo de tecnologia no processo de construção identitária do consumidor.
