Resumo: This thesis delves into the concept of Organizational Sustainability Orientation (OSO), providing a comprehensive examination of how sustainability is integrated within organizational strategies and the resulting impact on business outcomes. Through a mixedmethods approach combining bibliometric analysis, qualitative content analysis, and metaanalysis, this research traces the evolution of OSO, identifies key drivers of its implementation, and evaluates its effects on operational and performance outcomes. A significant contribution of this work is the identification of the balanced importance of social and environmental sustainability, advocating for an approach that incorporates the interdependence of environmental, social, and economic dimensions. The research stresses the central role of internal and external factors—including regulatory pressures, competitive dynamics, leadership commitment, and cultural influences—in shaping an organization's sustainability orientation. The findings reveal that a robust OSO enhances organizational performance across various metrics while also positioning firms to better meet the evolving expectations of consumers, employees, and society at large. Moreover, it underscores the strategic value of sustainability as a central driver of innovation, competitive advantage, and long-term success. description This thesis delves into the concept of Organizational Sustainability Orientation (OSO), providing a comprehensive examination of how sustainability is integrated within organizational strategies and the resulting impact on business outcomes. Through a mixedmethods approach combining bibliometric analysis, qualitative content analysis, and metaanalysis, this research traces the evolution of OSO, identifies key drivers of its implementation, and evaluates its effects on operational and performance outcomes. A significant contribution of this work is the identification of the balanced importance of social and environmental sustainability, advocating for an approach that incorporates the interdependence of environmental, social, and economic dimensions. The research stresses the central role of internal and external factors—including regulatory pressures, competitive dynamics, leadership commitment, and cultural influences—in shaping an organization's sustainability orientation. The findings reveal that a robust OSO enhances organizational performance across various metrics while also positioning firms to better meet the evolving expectations of consumers, employees, and society at large. Moreover, it underscores the strategic value of sustainability as a central driver of innovation, competitive advantage, and long-term success. This thesis contributes to the theoretical and practical understanding of sustainability in business, offering insights and recommendations for organizations seeking to navigate the complexities of sustainability. It calls for a comprehensive, integrated approach to sustainability, emphasizing the need for leadership that champions sustainable values and practices across all levels of the organization.
