Resumo: Recent controversies concerning platforms and their policies of circulation of content have put the spotlight on algorithms in media vehicles. In this paper, we talk about what algorithms are and how they act on the platforms, going through some fundamental discussions that emerge when we talk about algorithms. Therefore, our goal is to design and present a panorama to help researchers who are interested in studying the subject.
