This article approaches the transformation potential of works by Belgian-Mexican artist Francis Alÿs and its relations to our ways of thinking and occupying the city, both spatially and temporally. Many of the actions carried out by Alÿs have the public space as a territory of performance, questioning its physical and conceptual limits. The study explores four of them, held in Latin America between 1994 and 2006, in order to discuss the "bureaucratization of tomorrow" that takes place in the contemporary city. The article is based on the notion of "the right to the city" developed by Lefebvre, which is updated through other authors, contemporary to Alÿs: Rancière, Deleuze and Guattari. The article aims to identify platforms of critical thinking that propose new ways of thinkingness and articulations about urban life, avoiding the linearity and pragmatism of dominant discourses.
