Resumo: This study aimed to identify which herbal medicines were the most commercialised in the beginning of the pandemic in the municipality of João Pessoa/PB. For data collection, an interview was carried out with owners of homeopathic pharmacies who answered a previously elaborated questionnaire. The study evidenced expressively increasing of seven simple herbal medicines: Garlic Oil (Allium sativum L.), Unha de Gato (Uncaria tomentosa (Willd) D.C.), Equinácea (Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench), Mulungu (Erythrina mulungu Mart.), Valeriana (Valeriana officinalis L.), Melissa (Melissa officinalis L.) and Passiflora (Passiflora incarnata L.). In addition to two herbal compounds: Bom Sono and Fitocalmante, both with Passiflora (Passiflora incarnata L.), Mulungu (Erythrina mulungu Mart.), Valeriana (Valeriana officinalis L.) and Melissa (Melissa officinalis L.). It was possible to verify the influence of the pandemic on the use of herbal medicines in the city of João Pessoa, due to the symptoms caused by Covid-19 and by the conditions imposed by the social isolation. The results evidence the use of herbal medicines in two aspects: 1. With preventive and support purpose to people affected by Covid-19; 2. With the purpose do treat the consequences of Covid-19 and/or for people who already had mental/emotional symptoms that intensified during the pandemic.

The results evidence the use of herbal medicines in two aspects: 1. With preventive and support purpose to people affected by Covid-19; 2. With the purpose do treat the consequences of Covid-19 and/or for people who already had mental/emotional symptoms that intensified during the pandemic. Centro de Inovação em Biodiversidade e Saúde - Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz2023-12-20info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdftext/htmlhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/152810.32712/2446-4775.2023.1528Revista Fitos; Vol. 17 No. 4 (2023); 468-478Revista Fitos; Vol. 17 Núm. 4 (2023); 468-478Revista Fitos; v. 17 n. 4 (2023); 468-4782446-47751808-9569reponame:Revista Fitosinstname:Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)instacron:FIOCRUZporhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1528/1428https://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1528/1429Copyright (c) 2023 Revista Fitoshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess Costa, Danielly Albuquerque daBarbosa, Suênia AlcântaraSouza, Amanda Maria Santos deSilva, Maria das Graças OliveiraLucena, Hellane Fabrícia Sousa deFigueredo, Climério Avelino deSousa , Maria do Socorro2024-01-24T15:18:42Zoai:ojs.revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br:article/1528Revistahttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/PUBhttp://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/oairevistafitos@far.fiocruz.br || eugenio.telles@far.fiocruz.br2446-47752446-4775opendoar:2024-01-24T15:18:42Revista Fitos - Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)false
